DAY 1

Module 1:
Demystifying the Internet of Things

  • What is the IoT and why is it important?
  • Elements of an IoT ecosystem
  • Technology and business drivers
  • IoT applications, trends and implications
  • Wireless technologies for the IoT

Module 2: 
How to Find Readily-Available IoT Resources, Tools and Technologies

  • Sensor components and devices
  • Edge connectivity and protocols
  • Discuss tools, technologies and processes
  • Connecting devices at the edge and to the cloud
  • Review of Microsoft Azure services and technologies
  • Review of DevOps tools methodologies and process

Module 3:
IoT Lab Exercises

  • Lab Introduction
  • Review Raspberry Pi hardware, services, and configuration
  • Learn useful command to run on Raspberry Pi
  • Review and update IoT code and solution architecture
  • Deploy docker containers to Microsoft Azure and that automatically update your Raspberry Pi
  • Deploy temperature module from Microsoft Azure to your Raspberry Pi

DAY 2

Module 4:
Independent Study and Case Studies

  • Participant will use time between instruction days to practice useful exercises and identify potential application within their job responsibilities or at their worksites
  • Instructors available online or by phone for consultation

DAY 3

Module 5:
Data Basics: Analytics and Applications

  • Understanding data sources and formats
  • Capturing and assessing data
  • Understanding and visualizing data on a leading data analytics platform
  • Real-time and local analytics

Module 6:
IoT Business Solutions Lab

  • Determining business outcomes based on independent studies
  • Discuss business goals of IoT solutions
  • Discuss potential needs within current business inefficiencies and feasibility of IoT solutions
  • Discuss issues to consider before IoT implementations
  • Create roadmap and plan for IoT solution

Module 7:
Premier Skills: Bridging the Gap Between Tech and Non-Tech Language

  • How to communicate business problems & formulate solutions
  • Whiteboarding techniques for collaborative problem solving
  • Presenting proposed technical solutions to non-technical team members
  • Review professional toolkit provided
  • Role play IoT presentations with high emotional intelligence
