New camps added for 2018!
Walsh University’s Summer Academy is an ideal way for middle and high school students to dive into a particular field or area of interest in a safe college setting taught by passionate, caring, and experienced Walsh faculty and staff! Walsh has added even more camps to choose from this summer focused in areas of the arts, science, and building resilience. This is a great way to keep students engaged in learning over the summer, establish friendships and enhance their college portfolio.
All courses are held on the Walsh University campus and taught by experienced Walsh University faculty and staff.

Graphic Design - $125
June 11-13 • 9 A.M. TO 12 P.M.
Grades 7-12
Instructor: Jennifer Vokoun - Director of the Food Design Institute, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design
A fun project-based camp to develop skills in design and creativity in the brand new Graphic Design Lab in the Global Learning Center at Walsh University. The Lab includes scanning, color printing, 27" Mac computers, and the most up-to-date Adobe Creative Cloud software. Learn the principles of design and typography and experience the design process - from developing an idea, sketching concepts, and creating the design in the computer using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Develop a design project from concept to finish to put in a design portfolio. All levels of skill welcome.
Drawing Boot Camp - $125
June 18-20 • 9 A.M. TO 12 P.M.
Grades 7-12
Instructor: Diane Belfiglio - Assistant Professor of Art and Studio Coordinator
This camp will be extremely helpful in preparing students who wish to pursue art at the university level. Or just come to increase your drawing skills. No prior experience required. Navigate through the basics in a fun and productive way. Students will work from still life with special graphite sticks and erasers which will be provided. Students will be given both demonstrations and individualized attention.
Young Scientists Academy - $220
June 25-28 • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Grades 6-8
Instructor: Dr. Jacqueline Novak - Division of Mathematics & Sciences Chair, Professor of Biology
Young scientists will explore concepts in the scientific method, forensic, environmental, and biomedical science. The learning activities will be highly-engaging, and utilize techniques in problem-based learning.

Grades 5-8
Instructor: Dr. Patricia Berg - Assistant Professor of Business
Not everyone wins each time. Some days not everyone is nice. Some days may be hard. This is when GRIT (The Power of Perseverance) skills help! Students in this course will gain a basic understanding of resiliency and grit, and will work through hands-on activities where they are given the opportunity to fail in a safe environment, bounce back, and try again.
