The Walsh University Emergency Alert System can deliver one prerecorded message to up to six phone numbers, two email addresses, and one text message per student or staff member. If you have provided your home, residence hall, cell and/or work telephone numbers, you should receive a voice message as well as an email containing a link to listen to the message. This system will be used only in the case of an emergency such as school closures, natural disasters or imminent threats.

University Contact Information

We cannot stress enough how important it is that we have accurate and current contact information on file for every member of Cav Nation.  Please take a moment to review and update your phone numbers and email addresses through the Walsh University Cavalier Center.

  • Faculty members (including staff members who are adjunct professors) should update their information online through the Cavalier Center > Select Cavalier Center > select “Personal Information”

To update phone numbers, select > Update Demographic Instructions

  • Staff members should update their records by accessing the Excel document named Updating Payroll/HR Records Form on the Wu: drive in the Human Resources folder. Please return your completed form to Dee Stubbs in Human Resources. If you have any questions or difficulties, please contact Dee at (330) 490-7132.
  • Students should update their phone numbers and email addresses online through the Cavalier Center. > Select Cavalier Center > select “Personal Information”

To update phone numbers, select > Update Demographic Instructions. If you have problems accessing The Cavalier Center, please contact the Student Service Center at (330) 490-7367.

Important Call Delivery Notes

When you receive a call from the emergency alert system to your home phone, your caller ID will display WUAlert. For cell phones you will need to program the contact information. When you receive the initial test call, we encourage you to store and save the number under the contact name WUAlert for future reference.

For emails, the Email ID will begin with Walsh Emergency Alert.

For cell phones, text messages will come from 87844 or 89361.

You will get an initial confirmation text message to ensure we've reached the correct text message device. This will also be your opportunity to "opt-out" of future text messaging alert broadcasts.

When listening to a message, please be aware that background noise will cause the system to "stop and start." It is calibrated very delicately to determine whether a person or an answering machine has picked up the phone, and background noise may affect the delivery. If possible, move to a quiet area, or press the "mute" button on your phone.

If you missed any part of the message, please stay on the line and press 2 to hear the message again.
