Brett and I met through his mom, Chris Loader. I started working at St. Michael School as preschool teacher after graduation. Brett’s mom, Chris, is the director of the preschool program and I was her assistant during her afternoon class. The first time I met Chris she told me her son, Brett, was also a graduate from Walsh. We both received our diplomas on the exact same day and never knew each other. Chris and I worked closely together and we would talk about our family lives a lot. I knew Chris had a son my age but we had never met and it never crossed my mind that we would meet and start dating. It wasn’t until the school year ended when we first met. We first caught glances of each other at mass at St. Michael’s (we still could tell you what we saw each other wearing!). Then Chris made arrangements for us to meet one night after a local concert. And the rest is his history. Brett is also an alumni of St. Michael School so it is pretty cool to have colleagues that know him and his family so well. We are currently in the process of relocating to Knoxville, Tennessee. Brett has been assigned to a plant there through Timken. Our puppy, Rocky is the newest addition to our family. We hope to have children someday soon!

The Proposal:

Brett proposed on July 4, 2016. We were vacationing in the Outerbanks with his family. Brett rented a banner airplane to fly over the beach. His message read, “Kristen Emily, will you marry me? ~love, Brett”. He included my middle name because he didn’t think I would believe it was for us. I was so surprised. It was a great way to kick off our vacation!
