Walsh University is proud of its tradition of serving as the educational home for students who are the first in their families to attend college. One of the many ways we serve these students is through the First Gen Cavs Program, an initiative that supports those first-in-family students and creates a path for connection to the campus community and success in the classroom and beyond.

The First Gen Cavs Program offers many benefits, including:

  • Access to enriching and fun programs and activities from the first day on campus throughout the entire academic year
  • Engagement with faculty and staff mentors who were first generation college students themselves and can provide practical guidance and support
  • Opportunities to connect with peers and make friendships that will last a lifetime
  • For those who qualify, small tuition and/or book scholarships are offered
