On Monday, July 13, Walsh University was honored to welcome Catholic motivational speaker and former Vietnam War POW, Air Force Captain Guy D. Gruters and his wife Sandy to campus. The couple were the special guests on an EWTN episode of Living Right with Dr. Ray Guarendi which is produced in the Mother Angelica TV Studio.
Gruters is a retired Air Force Captain who was shot down over Vietnam and spent five years in captivity with the late Sen. John McCain. The Captain, now a Catholic author and inspirational speaker, credits his Catholic faith for his survival and for his family's strength in holding on until he came home in 1973.
