Bishop David J. Bonnar Blesses Walsh with Campus Visit

One of Walsh University’s most enduring traditions is to start each academic year in community prayer with a special Mass of the Holy Spirit. This year, Walsh was honored to welcome Bishop David J. Bonnar of the Diocese of Youngstown as celebrant on Thursday, August 26, the Marian feast day Our Lady of Częstochowa. All classes during that time were canceled so that students, faculty and staff could attend.

As a part of the celebration, Dr. Collins made his annual public profession of faith by reciting the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. This sacred tradition was presided over by Bishop Bonnar who personally led President Collins, Senior Chaplain Rev. Thomas Cebula and members of Walsh’s faculty and staff in the recitation of the Oath of Fidelity, pledging to uphold the faith, morals and teachings of the Catholic Church.

During his time on campus, Bishop Bonnar also visited the CAVS Closet and bestowed a special blessing on the on-campus boutique, which will provide Walsh students with new and gently used business and casual attire free of charge.
