Walsh University Named Finalist for the NCAA Division II Award of Excellence

Walsh University has been selected a finalist for the NCAA Division II Award of Excellence for the fifth straight year.

Over the course of the past Spring and Fall, Walsh University student-athletes have been immersed in their efforts to build a partnership with the students and staff at Frazer Elementary and the Plain Local School District through their Fierce Females program and through Walsh’s Athletes with Action initiative to make weekly impacts on the youth in our community. Through various weekly activities, 175 Walsh student-athletes from 14 teams spent 300 hours with the students of Frazer Elementary School.

The winner will be announced Jan. 14 at the 2023 NCAA Convention.

Each finalist will receive $500. In addition, the winner will receive $2,500, the first runner-up will receive $1,250 and the second runner-up will receive $1,000. All prize money is intended to be used for future SAAC initiatives or community engagement events.

Walsh has been named a finalist six times in the last seven years.
