Walsh University Names Trisha Hart Inaugural Head Coach STUNT Program

Walsh University has appointed Trisha Hart the new head coach for STUNT at Walsh University effective January 17, 2023. Hart's hire will make her the inaugural coach for the program.

STUNT, the fastest growing female sport in the U.S., was recently named an emerging sport by the NCAA effective August 1, 2023. STUNT incorporates skills derived from cheerleading. It is a head-to-head game between two teams who execute skills-based routines in various categories-partner stunts, jumps & tumbling, pyramids & tosses and team routines.

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has announced the addition of STUNT as a championship sport for the 2022-2023 season. The inaugural Great Midwest STUNT conference championship will be conducted on March 31-April 1, 2023 and hosted by Ashland University.

Prior to Walsh, Hart, a former cheerleader at The Ohio State University, served as the Director of Scoring for The Spirit Network. The former Buckeye brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the competitive cheer space. Hart also has choreographed for events such as COA, United Way, CW, MTV, Lifetime and more.

"I am ecstatic to be part of the inaugural season of STUNT here at Walsh,” Hart said. “The strong traditions, academic values, and beliefs, will make our program second to none."

Walsh University STUNT is currently recruiting scholar-athletes and will begin their inaugural season in the Fall of 2023.
