Walsh University President Appointed to NAICU Committee on Tax Policy

Walsh University President, Dr. Tim Collins has been appointed to a three-year term with the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities’ (NAICU) Committee on Tax Policy. NAICU is the only national organization solely focused on representing private, nonprofit higher education on public policy issues in Washington, D.C. At a time of heightened budget pressures and concerns on the value of higher education in America, President Collins will bring extensive government relations expertise to advocate nationally on behalf of Walsh and the students and families the University serves and all other private institutions.

Since 1976, NAICU has consistently focused on preserving and protecting federal student aid, pressing for tax laws beneficial to private colleges, their students and supporters, and seeking relief from intrusive regulations that threaten private colleges’ institutional autonomy.

As one of the six major presidential higher education associations, NAICU’s institutional membership is comprised of presidents from accredited private, nonprofit colleges and universities, who highlight their public purpose and contributions and help prioritize student success. The Association’s critical efforts help carry the message of private, nonprofit higher education to Congress and the Administration.

The Committee on Tax Policy is responsible for setting the Association’s policy agenda in the tax arena, including: maintaining federal support for the federal tax benefits for students and families, while protecting the tax-exempt status of private colleges and universities, the independence of their endowments and incentives for charitable giving.
