How has being involved in campus life at Walsh University enhanced your student experience and better prepared you for your future?

Being involved in campus life at Walsh has enhanced my student experience and prepared myself for my future in so many ways. In particular, three ways campus life has enhanced my student experience and prepared myself for my future include: real life knowledge, pursuing my interests, and creating life long friendships/professional relationships. At Walsh, there are an abundance of clubs and groups that unite based on a common interest or goal. Through these organizations, I have gained real life knowledge on how to give back to my community, purse my passions, bring resolutions for change, raise awareness for a cause, and serve as a voice for the underrepresented, etc. while creating life long friendships/progressional relationships. The skills I have gained continually help me be a better advocate, friend, mentor, teammate, and person.

What was the best part of being a student leader on campus?

In my perspective, the best part of being a leader on campus will always be the relationships I have with those I meet. I strongly believe we learn the most valuable life lessons through experiences with others. The knowledge and friendships I have gained is truly priceless.

What advice would you give to new students coming to Walsh?

The best piece of advice I can offer to incoming freshman, is to not be afraid to ask for help. If you are unsure about something, whether it may be housing, financial aid, how to get involved, or dining hall hours, I assure you there is someone on campus who has an answer or can help point you in the right direction! Lastly, do not be afraid to get involved!! Try and join at least one club or go to one event so you can meet new people and pursue a passion of yours. Having friends to experience college with enhances the journey and makes it so fun!

How has being involved in campus life at Walsh University enhanced your student experience and better prepared you for your future?

Being able to participate in all these activities has allowed me to make connections with a variety of people. Many of these roles have given me leadership skills that I can carry on with me into my future.

What was the best part of being a student leader on campus?

The best part of being a student leader on campus is that it has allowed me to grow my friend group and get to know more people. It also has created some of my closest friendships which makes Walsh feel like home.

What advice would you give to new students coming to Walsh?

I would tell new students coming in to get involved and figure out what you are passionate about so that you can make the most out of your experience here and meet new people along the way.

How has being involved in campus life at Walsh enhanced your student experience and better prepared you for your future?

Being involved on campus has given me the opportunity to meet individuals I would have never had a chance to meet otherwise. My involvement in several student clubs on campus has pushed me out of my comfort zone in many different ways. I have developed so many unique relationships with my peers and members of the Walsh University staff. My participation in these different clubs and positions on campus have allowed me to become a leader amongst my peers, manage several different events, and helped me shape skills that I will use for the rest of my life.

What is the best part of being a student leader on campus?

The best part of being a student leader is serving the community and making a difference on campus. As a resident assistant I have been given the opportunity to support and serve others and see the immediate impact I have on my residents. Whether it be settling a roommate dispute or helping someone schedule their classes, supporting and serving others is the greatest part of being a student leader.

What advice would you give to new students coming to Walsh?

A mentor of mine once told me, “Live your life so no one has to lie about you at your funeral” (Robert Yoder). The advice I would give to incoming students would be to get involved on campus and to make sure to take advantage of the resources that Walsh University has to offer. You will be surrounded by encouraging and motivated people, ultimately, feeling proud to be connected with them. This is your college experience, make the best of it and become your best self. Walsh University is there to support the student so take advantage of it!
