Walsh University has appointed Raj G. Javalgi Ph.D., to the newly created position of Professor of Business and Entrepreneurship within the DeVille School of Business. In his new role, Dr. Javalgi will be instrumental in helping to secure Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) accreditation. In addition, he will focus on fostering a data analytics culture across the campus, explore new ways to better serve the needs of the business community and enhance scholarship opportunities.     

“I am excited about this new role that presents an opportunity to work on innovative, engaging, and impactful initiatives that were recently put forth by President Tim Collins and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Michael Dunphy,” said Dr. Javalgi. “The Skilled Technical Workforce program is gaining momentum in the business community, and I’m looking forward to working closely with Dr. Dan Passerini to expand this new initiative beyond the market served. I believe Walsh University is uniquely positioned to establish its brand name in data analytics as the marketplace continues to increase its demand to seek graduates with data analytics skills.”   

Rajshekhar (Raj) G. Javalgi joined Walsh University in July 2018 as dean of the DeVille School of Business. He joined Walsh from Cleveland State University, Monte Ahuja College of Business where he served as Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives for more than fifteen years.  Additionally, he was the Distinguished Research Professor of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and International Business.    

Dr. Javalgi’s extensive experience in administrative and higher education encompasses a broad range of responsibilities including working with industry leaders within and outside the region, developing and launching innovative interdisciplinary programs, establishing faculty development initiatives, improving research productivity, and fostering collaborative relationships with the business community.  

He has received various awards including the Gold Medal Award and several research and teaching awards.  Dr. Javalgi taught courses in the areas of Strategy, Strategic Entrepreneurship, International Business, Data Analytics, Multivariate Statistical Methods, and Management of Innovation.   

Raj is a prodigious scholar and has published over 130 scholarly journal articles in the field of international business. Entrepreneurship, and internationalization of SMEs. Many of his articles have received best paper awards. His research has been widely cited by scholars and practitioners alike, and he has been recognized as one of the leading scholars in his field.  Dr. Javalgi serves on various editorial boards and is engaged in civic activities. 

He has had broad experience working with international business professionals and has assisted SMEs in developing international business plans, country analyses, and in cultural issues of doing business in developed and emerging economies. Dr. Javalgi received four consecutive grants, totaling over $800,000 from the U.S Department of Education Title VI Business International Education (BIE) grants. In addition, working with the team, he has raised $1 million dollars to establish start Innovation Lab.  The Lab was opened just before he joined Walsh.    

Additionally, he was involved with Professional Development Centers such as the Global Business Center (GBC) and Entrepreneurship and Innovations Centers, which offers a variety of seminars and workshops for the business community, including assisting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through programs such as TARGET (To Aim and Realize Global Expansion Together).  He has worked with the GBC team on several strategic initiatives, which have produced prestigious awards and recognition at both the regional and national levels.  Some of these awards include the President’s “E” Award for Export and the Ohio Governor’s Export Award.   

Dr. Javalgi earned his M.S. in Mathematics, M.B.A. and Ph.D. all from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He enjoys teaching Sunday school in his church and finds great strength and spiritual growth in doing so. As he has said, “I cannot seek any better way to grow in Him in faith.”
