Incoming students interested in auditioning for the Walsh University Band, Chorale, Majorette Line, or as a Feature Twirler should complete the registration form below.

Upcoming Audition Dates

Select "In Person" in the form below to view and choose from all available campus audition dates. Auditions are available during any of our on-campus visit events or may be arranged on an alternative date with the appropriate Band or Chorale director.

Prefer not to travel to campus? Virtual auditions are available through video submission below.

Band Audition Requirements

  • Sight-reading
  • Basic scales and/or rudiments
  • Preparation of a piece from your high school marching band or concert band that best showcases your instrumental abilities.

Chorale Audition Requirements

  • Sight-singing
  • Basic vocal scales
  • Preparation of a song such as My Country Tis of Thee or Amazing Grace that best showcases your vocal abilities.

Twirler and Majorette Auditions

Feature Twirler Requirements

Candidates will perform their 2–3 minute original routine to music and must score higher than candidates choosing to only audition for the Walsh University Majorette Line. Candidates auditioning for this position may be placed on the Majorette Line should they not be chosen as Feature Twirler.

The following techniques are recommended for a Feature Twirler audition:

  • High toss with tumbling - walkover, front roll, etc
  • 3-4 spins with a variety of catches
  • 2-3 spin horizontal
  • One Spin - outside illusion or double
  • Continuous rolls (back neck rolls, elbows, elbow pops, fujimis)
  • Fishtails - can add a turn or reverse
  • Any high-toss leap combination of your choice
  • Strong 1 baton skills
  • Strong 2 baton skills
  • Strong 3-4 baton skills
  • Dance technique/flexibility
  • Showmanship
  • Novelty Baton(s) optional

Majorette Line Requirements

Candidates will perform their 2–3 minute original routine to music.

The following techniques are recommended for a Majorette audition:

  • 1-2 spins with a variety of catches
  • 1-2 spin horizontal
  • Illusion - can add high toss
  • At least 2 elbow rolls
  • Fishtails
  • Any high-toss leap combination of your choice
  • Strong 1 baton skills
  • Strong 2 baton skills
  • Dance technique/flexibility
  • Showmanship
  • Novelty baton(s) optional
