Faculty, staff, and students are invited to join the Byer's School of Nursing as they host an excellent opportunity of Mental Health First Aid training that will teach you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders to use with coworkers, friends, family, and community.

This is an evidence-based program that has been adopted by over 20 countries. You will learn to assess for risk of suicide or harm, listen nonjudgmentally, give reassurance and information, encourage appropriate professional help, self-help, and other support strategies. By the time the class is over, you will know about crisis numbers and how to find local mental health providers in our area so you can refer others.
