Incoming freshmen must meet the following criteria in order to be offered a Direct Admit into the Walsh University Honors Program:

  • Apply to Walsh University by November 15, 2023.
  • Applicants applying with a test score
    • 3.9 GPA or higher and 27 ACT/ 1200 SAT or higher
    • 30 ACT/ 1370 SAT or higher and 3.75 GPA or higher
  • Test Optional Applicants
    • 3.9 GPA or higher

Non-Direct Admit Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.75–3.89, will be required to submit the following items:

  • Research paper written during junior or senior year
  • Video (approximately 2 minutes) or written essay (1 page maximum) Explaining your interest in the Walsh University Honors Program
  • 1 Letter of references from a core subject teachers
  • Resume

If you would like to be considered for our Presidential Scholarship* (full-tuition scholarship) or you're a candidate for Founders’ Scholarship**, please review and submit the application requirements below and then an on-campus interview will be scheduled for you:

  • Research paper written during junior or senior year
  • 1 Letter of references from a core subject teachers
  • Resume
  • On-campus interview

*Walsh University Presidential Scholarships

Presidential Scholarships are awarded each year to a limited number of qualified entering freshmen in an amount equivalent to the cost of regular full-time tuition. Candidates will be invited to the Honors Competition and must be admitted to Walsh University by the published deadline. These scholarships are competitive and limited. Recipients of this scholarship must remain in the Walsh University Honors Program all four years. The Presidential Scholarship replaces any previously-awarded institutional funds.

**Walsh University Founders' Scholarships

Founders' Scholarships are awarded each year to qualified entering freshman in an amount equivalent to the cost of regular full-time tuition. Candidates will be invited to the Honors Competition and must be admitted to Walsh University by the published deadline. One Founders' Scholarship may be awarded to a top scholar at each of six Youngstown Diocesan high schools per year. These scholarships are competitive and limited. Recipients of this scholarship must remain in the Walsh University Honors Program all four years. The Founders' Scholarship replaces any previously-awarded institutional funds.
