First-Year and Transfer Undergraduate Requirements

First-Year Undergraduate Requirements

  • Completed online application for admission.
  • Official transcripts from the last 4 years of high school.
  • Transcripts need to be translated into English.
  • One or more of the following test scores:
    • SAT scores(writing not required)
    • ACT scores(writing not required)
    • TOEFL scores - 62 or higher required
    • IELTS scores:
      • 5.5 overall or higher on the IELTS, as a whole
      • Only one sub score on the IELTS can fall to a 4.5.
      • If a student has a 5.0 on the IELTS, they can submit an ESL certificate showing proof of language proficiency; however, the IELTS date cannot be after the dates of ESL completion.
    • The Duolingo English Test - 95 or higher
    • Cambridge English Assessments:
      • B2 First – 160 or higher required
      • C1 Advanced – 160 or higher required
      • C2 Proficiency – 180 or higher required

Test Optional Policy and Requirements

International students who are from an English speaking country or have attended a U.S. high school or an IB-certified high school for at least 2 years and have maintained a 3.0 GPA or higher may apply as test optional. Test Optional application requirements are as follows:

  • Completed online application for admission.
  • Indicate you want to apply as test-optional on your application.
  • Official and most recent high school transcripts
  • A one to one and a half page personal essay on one of the following topics:
    • What are your goals and how will Walsh University help you achieve them?
    • Explain a challenge you have had and how you have overcome it.

Accepted Test Optional applicants are eligible for scholarship opportunities!


How to Submit Transcripts

High school transcripts and exam results or certificates can be uploaded through the application portal. If you are unable to upload your documents, you can email legible copies to intladmissions@walsh.edu. PDF copies are preferred. Walsh University also accepts transcripts through the Common Application or Naviance and direct mail. If transcripts are not in English, a certified English translation is required.

Official transcripts showing grades for all years of secondary/high school and official exam results or certificates from your country will be required to remain enrolled at Walsh University.


How to Submit Test Scores

If you would like to have your ACT or SAT scores sent directly to Walsh University, please use these school codes: ACT - 3349; SAT - 1926.  SAT scores can be submitted through collegeboard.org and ACT scores can be submitted through act.org

Official TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test (DET) scores should be uploaded through the application portal or sent directly to intladmissions@walsh.edu. Walsh University officially verifies results through the testing agency. Official scores may also be sent to Walsh University directly through the testing agency by using the links below:

If you are an English pathway student through a Walsh University approved ESL training school, please contact your admissions counselor at intladmissions@walsh.edu for instructions on submitting your ESL training school certificate.


Transfer Undergraduate Requirements

  • Completed online application for admission.
  • Official and complete high school transcripts
  • Official university transcripts. Transcripts from non-U.S. universities must be in English and officially evaluated by WES, SpanTran, or similar evaluation service. Students using SpanTran can receive a discount on their evaluation by clicking here.
  • ENG 101 or equivalent on your university transcript, or one of the following test scores:
    • SAT scores (writing not required)
    • ACT scores (writing not required)
    • TOEFL scores – 62 or higher required
    • IELTS scores:
      • 5.5 overall or higher on the IELTS.
      • Only one sub score on the IELTS can fall to a 4.5.
      • If a student has a 5.0 overall, they can submit an ESL certificate showing proof of language proficiency; however, the IELTS date cannot be after the dates of ESL completion.
    • The Duolingo English Test – 95 or higher

All international students are required to purchase health insurance. International students under the age of 23 are required to live in the residence halls unless accompanied by a spouse and/or children. International students must maintain full-time status (12 or more credit hours per semester) during their stay in the United States.

 Graduate Requirements

  • Completed online application for admission
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended evaluated by WES. Transcripts need to be translated into English, with a course by course evaluation, and calculated on a 4.0 scale.
  • Evidence of English proficiency: TOEFL score of 500 or higher on the paper-based test, 173 or higher on the computer-based test, or 61 or higher on the Internet-based test. IELTS score of 5.5 or higher. Walsh University's institutional identification number is 1926.
  • Walsh's Certificate of Financial Responsibility indicating that student possesses funds available to pay for the first academic year. This form will be provided to you upon receiving your application for a particular program.
  • Copy of passport
  • GRE or GMAT- depending graduate program of interest
