2024 T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence Award Finalists Announced

Walsh University is delighted to announce the T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence Award finalists. The T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence is the most prestigious non-academic award given each year. Presented annually at the President’s Dinner, the award recognizes seniors or recent graduates who embody each of these characteristics:

Ethan Frost

Ethan Frost is a shining example as a finalist for the T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence Award at Walsh University. Hailing from Jackson Township, Ohio, he is a dedicated student in the Pre-Medicine/Biology program with a minor in Medical Humanities. Ethan has consistently demonstrated his commitment to both his studies and his community.

Throughout his time at Walsh, Ethan has been deeply involved in campus life, serving as a Resident Assistant (RA) and participating in various extracurricular activities. As a former member of the cross country and track team during his freshman and sophomore years, Ethan showcased his athleticism and team spirit. Additionally, he served as the Secretary of the WU College Republicans, where he demonstrated his passion for political engagement and leadership.

Ethan's commitment to his faith and values is evident through his involvement in Cavs For Life, where he actively promotes the sanctity of life within the university community.

In addition to his academic and extracurricular pursuits, Ethan finds joy and fulfillment in his family life. He shares a close bond with his parents, Jason Frost and Rebecca Stanley, as well as his step-parents, Elizabeth Frost and Aaron Stanley. Ethan is also a loving older sibling to Brody Folk and Ezra Stanley, cherishing the moments spent with his younger brothers.

Looking toward the future, Ethan's aspirations are bright. He has been selected as an alternate for admission to Northeast Ohio Medical University's M.D. program, a testament to his academic achievements and dedication to his chosen field. Alternatively, he plans to work full-time as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) before embarking on his medical school journey next year.
Reflecting on his time at Walsh University, Ethan expresses profound gratitude for the opportunities afforded to him. From academic growth within the honors program to spiritual enrichment and leadership development, Walsh has played a pivotal role in shaping Ethan's journey. Most importantly, it was at Walsh where Ethan found love, meeting his fiancé and future wife during his freshman year.

Ethan Frost stands as a testament to the values of the T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence Award embodying excellence, service, and faith in all aspects of his life. As he continues to pursue his dreams of becoming a physician, he will undoubtedly carry the spirit of Walsh with him, making a positive impact wherever he goes.

Isabel Gill

Isabel Gill, a proud native of Canton, Ohio, stands as a shining example of the Walsh experience through service, leadership and extracurricular commitment. Isabel is a top five finalist for this year’s T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence Award. As a dedicated student pursuing a major in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Philosophy, Isabel has not only excelled in her academic pursuits but has also left a deep-rooted mark on campus through her numerous involvements and contributions.

Throughout her time at Walsh University, Isabel has been an active member of the campus community, serving as a Resident Assistant, a student ambassador, and a participant in the Blouin Scholars program. Her commitment to academic excellence is further exemplified by her membership in the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society, where she has demonstrated her dedication to the principles of education and scholarship.

Isabel's leadership commitments are extensive, as she has served as a Cavs Cor Leader for Ambition Cor during her sophomore and junior years, before taking on the role of Cavs Cor Advisor in her senior year. Her involvement in the Walsh University Chorale showcases her passion for the arts and her ability to contribute to the cultural fabric of the campus community.

Despite her busy schedule, Isabel remains grounded in her family values, finding strength and support from her parents, Janet and John, her brother Ian, and her beloved dogs, Freddy and Koda.

Looking towards the future, Isabel's post-graduation plans reflect her unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others. Whether pursuing a career as an elementary school teacher, Isabel's dedication to service and leadership will undoubtedly continue to inspire those around her.

In her own words, Isabel encapsulates her profound connection to Walsh: "From the moment I stepped onto Walsh’s campus for my first tour as a high school student, I knew I had found my home. I knew Walsh was my passion and purpose because I could fulfill my journey of being a leader in service to others. Being a leader in service to others on campus has been the most fulfilling journey of my life. As someone who has a true passion for helping and empowering others, leadership has always been a natural instinct. Therefore, I became involved on campus in as many activities as I could to grow as a life-long learner and leader in service to others with the help of my Walsh family. I feel so lucky to have called Walsh my home for the past four years, and will forever hold the amazing memories close in my heart."

Isabel Gill's involvement at Walsh serves as a testament to the transformative power of being committed and involved with the campus community.

Hannah Olszewski

Hannah Olszewski, a native of Steubenville, Ohio, emerged as a shining star during her time at Walsh University, leaving an indelible mark as a top leader among her peers.

Majoring in Nursing, Hannah demonstrated an exceptional dedication to her studies, consistently earning recognition on the Dean's List from 2021 to 2024. Her academic excellence and extracurricular distinction culminated in her inclusion on the prestigious President’s List in 2024 and a finalist for the T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence award.

Hannah's leadership and compassion were evident as a Blouin Scholar and in her numerous campus involvements. As a Lead Resident Assistant for two consecutive years, she exhibited remarkable organizational skills and a genuine concern for the well-being of her fellow students. Her outstanding contributions were recognized with the RA of the Year award in 2023.

Hannah's commitment to service are extensive. She has served as a personal tutor at the Academic Support Center, providing invaluable guidance to her peers, and volunteered her time with organizations such as the Community Kitchen and the Ice-Skating Club.

A true leader and role model, Hannah also dedicated herself to spiritual growth and community involvement. She was an active member of Campus Ministry and the Nursing Club, as well as a small group leader for AGAPE. Her involvement in initiatives like Cavathon and Cavs Cor demonstrated her unwavering commitment to fostering a supportive campus environment.

Hannah finds strength and support in her loving family—her mother Nancy, father Doug, and older sister Virginia. Their unwavering encouragement and belief in her abilities have undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping Hannah into the exceptional individual she is today.

As she looks toward the future, Hannah has accepted a nursing position in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Akron Children’s Hospital. In addition to her professional endeavors, she remains committed to giving back to her community through continued volunteer work with organizations such as the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and Stark Pound.

In her own words, Hannah reflects, "Looking back, I recognize that God was calling me to Walsh for a reason. The community of faculty, staff, and peers have fostered my development into a servant leader throughout campus and in my personal life. As I graduate, I strive to continue serving those around me in my daily actions and to love each person as Christ does."

Jessica Pregizer

Jessica Pregizer is from Seven Hills, OH and is a shining example of dedication and service within the Walsh University community. Pursuing a Major in K-12 Intervention Specialist Education with a focus on Mild-Moderate to Moderate-Intensive needs, and a Minor in Psychology, Jessica’s journey is marked by a profound commitment to both learning and compassion and has led to her being selected as one of this year’s five T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence finalists.

During her time at Walsh University, Jessica has been more than just a student; she is a driving force of positivity and involvement. As a devout member of the Music Ministry, Jessica lends her voice to the sacred melodies that uplift Holy Mass and Ignite worship nights. Her passion for spiritual connection extends further as she serves on retreat leadership, providing guidance through music and small group discussions. Additionally, Jessica serves as a Cav Cor Leader, a campus tour guide, and a writing tutor, embodying the spirit of leadership and support across various facets of campus life. Her dedication to global understanding is evident through her role as a Blouin Global Scholar, showcasing her commitment to broadening her horizons and enriching her Walsh experience.

Jessica’s leadership is clear through additional service in her roles as VP of Cav Bash, VP, and Senator of the Campus Ministry Club, and Secretary/Marketing for the Trek Club. Her ability to inspire and organize reflects her deep-rooted passion for community building and advocacy.

Jessica’s journey is intertwined with the unwavering support of her loving family. With her mother, Susan, her father, Ralph, and her siblings—twin brother Aaron, and younger brother Jacob—by her side, Jessica finds strength and motivation to pursue her dreams.

Looking toward the future, Jessica plans to make a lasting impact as an Intervention Specialist at Plain Local Schools or a nearby district. With a commitment to uplifting others, Jessica aspires to pursue a master's degree in Counseling and Human Development from Walsh University. She plans to remains involved with Cleveland Catholic Charities Disability Services and Ministries, supporting their summer camp and educational programming for adults. Amidst her professional endeavors, Jessica aims to continue nurturing her passion for Christian songwriting, singing, and performing.

Reflecting on her transformative journey, Jessica shares, “Walsh has not only provided a second home for me to grow in my gifts and nurture my passions but also a place where I have been able to help others do the same. I feel that this is my purpose in life, and wherever I go, I will always remember that Walsh helped me find it!”

Lauren Selhorst

Lauren Selhorst, from Findlay, OH, is a shining example of dedication and service and one of this year’s T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence finalists. As a Middle Childhood Education major with a minor in Theology, Lauren has demonstrated exceptional commitment to both her academic pursuits and her spiritual journey.

Her involvement on campus has been remarkable. From her early days as a Campus Ministry Club Senator to her tenure as President, Lauren has been a steadfast leader, guiding her peers in their spiritual growth. Her contributions to the AGAPE Admin Team and her role as AGAPE Director in 2023 showcase her passion for fostering community and spreading love throughout the university.

Lauren's impact extends beyond campus ministry as well. As a co-founder of Martha's Ministry, she has played an integral role in serving the local community and uplifting those in need. Her involvement as a Student Ambassador and Maroon and Gold Mentor reflects her dedication to welcoming and guiding incoming students, ensuring that they feel supported and encouraged from day one.
In addition to her extracurricular involvements, Lauren has excelled academically, earning membership in prestigious organizations like Kappa Delta Pi and demonstrating her commitment to academic excellence.

Outside of her academic and extracurricular pursuits, Lauren finds strength and support in her loving family. With her father Curt, mother Lisa, and sister Kirsten by her side, she has thrived in both her personal and academic endeavors.

Looking ahead, Lauren's post-Walsh plans exemplify her unwavering dedication to her faith and service. She is in the application process to enter the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, a decision she approaches with humility and grace, trusting in God's will for her future.

Reflecting on her time at Walsh University, Lauren shares, "When I was searching for a college or university to attend, I was looking for a small, Catholic community to journey alongside, and I found this at Walsh University. Throughout my time here, I have been inspired by others living out their faith and have been challenged to grow in deeper holiness through their witness. I am grateful that I found a group of lifelong friends who walk together on this road to sainthood and challenge each other to grow."

Lauren Selhorst has demonstrated talented leadership, outstanding service, Walsh commitment, responsible extra-curricular distinction and embodies the core values of Walsh University. These characteristics make her a deserving recipient of the T.O.W.E.R. of Excellence award. Her legacy of leadership and compassion will continue to inspire those around her for years to come.
