Sigma Beta Delta is an international honor society for business, management, and administration. Established in 1994, the society provides schools like Walsh University with a way to recognize students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement in their business studies. Rooted in a long tradition of honoring scholastic excellence in higher education, Sigma Beta Delta follows the legacy of organizations such as Phi Beta Kappa, founded in 1776 as the nation’s first academic honor society.

Sigma Beta Delta is certified by the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS), which sets national standards for excellence and eligibility among honor societies across disciplines. This certification helps ensure that membership is meaningful and professionally recognized.

Today, more than 225 Sigma Beta Delta chapters operate across the United States and internationally.

Membership in Sigma Beta Delta offers students several advantages, including leadership and networking opportunities with fellow scholars and alumni, access to a national Fellowship program that awards scholarships, and ongoing professional connections through the annual “Aspirations” newsletter and the society’s job board.

Invitation to membership is extended to undergraduate and graduate business students who rank in the top 20% of their class and have completed at least half of their degree program. Eligible undergraduates may be inducted as early as their junior year.
