Dr. Katherine Brown Named Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences
Walsh University is proud to announce that Katherine T. Brown, Ph.D., has been appointed the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, effective immediately. Dr. Brown has served in this position as Interim Dean since July 2020, replacing Michael Dunphy, Ph.D., following his appointment as Walsh Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Dr. Brown came to Walsh University in 2011 as Director of Museum Studies and Assistant Professor of Art History. She received tenure and Associate Professor in May 2016 and was promoted to full Professor in May 2020. Her leadership roles on campus have included serving as Walsh University’s Director of the Honors Program for one year and leading five Global Learning programs to Rome and London. She was a Visiting Scholar at the American Academy in Rome during Summer 2019 and currently serves on the board of the Italian Art Society. Click here to read more.

Dr. Ute Lahaie Named Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment
Ute Lahaie, Ph.D. has been named Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment. Her responsibilities include oversight of the university’s institutional accreditation, compliance reporting, outcomes assessment, and academic program reviews. In addition, she serves as the HLC Assurance Coordinator and the HLC Data Update Coordinator, and she is responsible for the preparation of reports and accreditation-related materials for the Higher Learning Commission. As Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment, Dr. Lahaie led Walsh’s accreditation task force to the successful completion of the 10-year assurance report resulting in the successful institutional reaccreditation in Spring 2020. Appointments Announced in School of Behavioral and Health Sciences
Christine McCallum, PT, Ph.D., has been named Chair of Physical Therapy; replacing former Chair Leigh Murray, Ph.D. Dr. McCallum is an inaugural faculty member in the Physical Therapy program, beginning her tenure at Walsh University in 1999, serving as the Director of Clinical Education. In addition, Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy Alexia Lairson, PT, DPT, has been named the new Director of Clinical Education, replacing Dr. McCallum. Dr. Lairson joined the Walsh University DPT faculty in 2019 as an assistant professor with teaching responsibilities in our clinical education program, our practice management course sequence and lifespan and development content. Tiffany Kinnard-Payton Named Dean of Students
Walsh University has announced the appointment of Tiffany Kinnard-Payton as Dean of Students, effective immediately. Prior to this appointment, she served as Walsh’s Associate Dean of Students. Kinnard-Payton brings more than 14 years of expertise in Student Affairs having previously working in Residence Life, Student Conduct, and Multicultural Affairs. Along with teaching the First Year Experience course for the past 14 years, she has served as the Co-Director of FYE for the past two years. Dr. Alan Digianantonio Appointed Director of the Center for Academic and Professional Enrichment
Alan Digianantonio, Ed.D., has been named Associate Dean of Graduate Affairs and Director of the Center for Academic and Professional Enrichment. In his new role as Director of the Center, Dr. Digianantonio will consult with university stakeholders to develop the mission and framework for the Center for Academic and Professional Enrichment. He will work with relevant Walsh offices to market the Center while developing and overseeing the Center’s budget in coordination with the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Katie Connell Named Head Softball Coach
Vice President/Director of Athletics Dale Howard has announced the hiring of Katie Connell as Walsh's newest softball head coach, the 9th head coach in program history. A former assistant coach, Connell returns to Walsh University after spending the last seven seasons at Gordon College, a NCAA Division III institution in Wenham, Massachusetts.
“We are excited to be welcoming Katie Connell back to Cav Nation to lead our softball program,” said Howard. “Katie has an excellent track record of building successful programs, not only in terms of wins and losses, but more importantly in the development of student-athletes both on and off the field of play.” Click here to read more.
