HVAC and refrigeration technicians are increasingly expected to bring digital, connected diagnostic tools into the field — and airflow is where most comfort complaints start. This one-day, in-person seminar gives working technicians hands-on mastery of the Digital TrueFlow Air Handler Flow Meter, an IoT-enabled instrument for measuring airflow and static pressure in residential and light-commercial HVAC systems.
Participants spend the day working directly with the instrument: pairing it to a mobile device, running live CFM and static-pressure tests on real equipment, interpreting readings in the field, and using the TrueFlow app to turn raw data into a professional, customer-ready diagnostic report. By the end of the day, participants can independently set up, run, and document a full airflow diagnostic test — a core skill for any technician performing system commissioning, troubleshooting, or preventive maintenance.
Participant preparation
Working knowledge of residential or light-commercial HVAC systems. No prior experience with digital airflow instrumentation or IoT diagnostic tools is required.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Explain core HVAC airflow principles and why accurate airflow measurement directly affects system comfort, efficiency, and equipment life.
- Identify the components of the Digital TrueFlow Air Handler Flow Meter and describe how it uses IoT connectivity to capture and transmit data.
- Set up and pair the TrueFlow meter with an Android or iOS device and correctly configure it for a live test.
- Measure and interpret cubic feet per minute (CFM) and static pressure using the TrueFlow instrument and app.
- Distinguish system-related airflow issues from instrument or installation error when reviewing test results.
- Diagnose common and advanced airflow faults, using case-based examples of real-world airflow problems and their resolutions.
