Major: Finance

For Isabelle Menegay, enrolling at Walsh University came down to a feeling. “When I walked onto campus, there was a feeling that this is where I was going to be for the next four years,” she said.

During her freshman year, Isabelle was a quiet commuter still deciding on a major. However, once she selected a major in finance and started an internship with the Office of Alumni Relations, things began to change.

“When I first got to Walsh I was a little shy and just getting by. When I started the internship in the Alumni office I became very involved, meeting people on campus and building relationships,” Isabelle said. “Now I am able and comfortable walking into new opportunities with more confidence. I consider college as more than just an academic education.”

Initially, Isabelle chose a finance major because it lends itself to careers in multiple industries. Through an internship at the Schauer Group, a risk management, insurance and human capital services firm, she now has a clear path.

“As a sales intern, I help current client executives and producers with preparing presentations, attend meetings and help with basic day-to-day client work. I just obtained my insurance license and I’ve accepted a role for after graduation as a client executive,” she said. “When I am full-time, I will have my own clients assigned to me that I’ll be responsible for in the property and casualty insurance division.”

At Walsh, Isabelle remains active with the Student Alumni Association, Cavs Cor, Student-Managed Investment Portfolio and JV Tennis.

“What I’ll remember most from my time at Walsh are the people—every single person,” she said. “I tell all my mentees at orientation to talk to everybody. If you have questions, ask anybody. The people at Walsh are the type of people who want to help you succeed.”
