Vaccinations and Boosters

The university strongly encourages keeping up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters. Getting fully vaccinated remains the best defense against COVID-19. Walsh University is not requiring students, faculty and staff to be vaccinated for COVID-19. We encourage members of CAV Nation to seek guidance from your healthcare provider and, if you are able, consider getting vaccinated to ensure a safe, active, and in-person campus environment.

Vaccination Verification for University Employees (including student workers)

We are asking university employees, including student workers, to upload your vaccination card to PayCom as soon as possible as we prepare for a final determination on the federal government’s requirement for proof of vaccination to avoid weekly COVID-19 testing. Please reference your email from the human resource department which was distributed on December 3, 2021. If you have questions, please e-mail WalshHr@walsh.edu.

Mask and Distance

Anyone may wear a mask at any time at their discretion. While on campus, vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a mask. While on campus, non-vaccinated individuals are responsible to exercise caution and remain diligent to distance themselves and wear a mask when around others.

For smaller spaces on campus with meetings or academic classes, the team leader or faculty member may be aware of an individual participant that has a health concern (such as the care of an elderly parent or a sibling with a medical condition); hence, if asked to “mask up” by the team leader or the faculty member for these situations, we ask that all members of Cav Nation respond charitably for the sake of the common good and wear a mask while respecting the medical privacy concerns of others in our community.

Reporting and Response Protocols

This Walsh University COVID-19 Community Health Response Team and Human Resources will be responsible for managing COVID-19 related cases. For additional information on how to report university COVID-19 response protocols and quarantine/isolation guidelines CLICK HERE.

Contact Tracing

Per the updated guidelines released by the Ohio Department of Health, Walsh University will no longer complete contact tracing for individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19 except in instances when the exposure occurred within a shared residence (household members, roommates, etc.). The university may assess other higher-risk settings and complete contact tracing when deemed necessary. Members of Cav Nation who test positive are directed to outreach and notify individuals (close contacts) who may have been exposed.

Quarantine/Isolation Guidelines

If you test positive for COVID-19, you will be directed to return home for the quarantine/isolation period. Persons who have had close contact exposure to COVID-19 but have been vaccinated within the past six months or who have been vaccinated and boosted will not be required to quarantine. All others with close contact exposure will be required to quarantine for a period of five days. Proof of vaccination will be required so it is important to have a copy of your vaccination card.

COVID-19 Testing

Please contact AultmanNOW (Washington Square) regarding COVID-19 testing. Testing is left to the discretion of the treating medical professionals.

The Seven to Remember

We are continuing to implement our Walsh Seven to Remember and calling upon CAV Nation to continue doing your part with contributing to the health and wellness of our campus community!

We will continue to monitor and assess the guidance provided by the federal, state and local health authorities. As conditions involving the pandemic change, we are fully prepared to adjust our response plans to any new circumstances that may arise. Visit Campus Updates to review new information and updates as they become available.  In addition, we will continue to track active cases on campus through our COVID-19 Condition and Case Dashboard.
